Welcome to "Mike's Memo," an update on what's happening in the 48th Legislative District, the State Capitol, and the progress of my legislative priorities. If you haven't done so already, please take a few moments to visit my website at www.senatorfolmer.com to learn more about issues that may affect you and your family.

Week of February 8, 2016

With the Senate passing three state budgets, a stop gap budget, and making several attempts to override gubernatorial vetoes, I’d appreciate your thoughts on the Governor giving his 2016 – 2017 budget address before the 2015 – 2016 budget has been finalized.

My frustration continues with the lack of progress on SB 3, my medical cannabis bill.

Act 1 of 2016: Keystone Exam Two-Year Delay
The Governor signed Senate Bill 880, a two-year delay of the Keystone Exams’ graduation requirement, into law as Act 1 of 2016.

February Cable Show: Farm to Table, Heart Healthy Cooking
My February cable show is at the Lebanon YMCA for a heart healthy soup cooking demonstration with Sodexo/WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital Executive Chef, Trevor J. Sipe. Perfect timing as February is American Heart Month! You can watch the show via the link below, or on my website (www.senatorfolmer.com). Comcast on Demand (Lebanon), Harrisburg Broadcast Network (Harrisburg, WHBG-20), and Blue Ridge Communications (York, Channel 8) should also be airing the show through February.

Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce Non-Traditional Student Scholarship
The Lebanon Valley Chamber’s Women in Business Committee is accepting applications for a Non-Traditional Student Scholarship for up to $1,000.
