Pennsylvania Wild Turkey Sighting Survey
The Pennsylvania Wild Turkey Sighting Survey is online through August, and the PA Game Commission is encouraging the public to report turkeys they see, along with the general location, date, and contact information should there be any questions. Information submitted will help analyze spring turkey production. According to Mary Jo Casalena, the PA Game Commission’s wild turkey biologist, “By reporting all turkeys seen during each sighting, whether they’re gobblers, hens with broods or hens without broods, the data help us determine total productivity, and allow us to compare long-term reproductive success.” Spring weather, habitat, winter food abundance, predation, and fall harvest the previous year all affect wild turkey productivity. The 2015 statewide turkey population was approximately 216,000, which is slightly above the previous five-year average of 205,000.

PennDOT Seeking Highway Safety Input
The PA Department of Transportation is seeking motorists’ input on highway safety, traffic safety enforcement, and driving behaviors through an online survey through August 23. The brief survey focuses on highway safety issues such as seat belts, impaired driving, speeding, motorcycles, and distracted driving. Those completing the survey may remain anonymous, but are asked to provide gender, age, and county of residence.

Online Commonwealth Telephone Directory
The PA Department of General Services offers an online Commonwealth telephone directory with an alphabetical listing for agencies within the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of PA government. This is a great resource for Pennsylvania residents.
