Folmer Introduces Taxpayer-Funded Advertising Transparency Act

HARRISBURG (June 28, 2007) – Senator "Citizen Mike" Folmer (R-Lebanon) today introduced the Taxpayer-Funded Advertising Transparency Act.

Under the legislation, advertising by any government agency in Pennsylvania must include the following disclosure: "Paid for with Pennsylvania taxpayer dollars."

"I believe this legislation will help to educate taxpayers on how their money is being spent," Folmer said.  "Additionally this legislation could help to reduce overhead costs of state programs as managers would be asking themselves if advertising with tax dollars is warranted."

The legislation has bipartisan support, including 16 co-sponsors so far.
