Senator Mike Folmer to Testify Against REAL ID at Senate Communications and Technology Committee Hearing

HARRISBURG – Sen. Mike "Citizen Mike" Folmer (R-Lebanon) will testify against the federal government's REAL ID mandate at a public hearing of the Senate Communications and Technology Committee, to be held at 9 a.m., Wed., June 25th, 2008, in Hearing Room #1 of the North Office Building.

Sen. Folmer has authored legislation (SB 1220) which would preclude Pennsylvania from having to comply with the federal REAL ID Act of 2005, an unfunded mandate requiring states to convert their driver's licenses into a national identification card.
Representatives from the American Civil Liberties Union, the Commonwealth, the federal government, and the National Veterans Committee on Constitutional Affairs will also be testifying.

Your attendance is invited and encouraged.
