For Immediate Release Senator Folmer to Host Seminar on Raw MilkForum to spotlight constitutionality, healthfulness of unpasteurized milk HARRISBURG (July 26, 2008) – Senator Mike Folmer (R-Lebanon) will host a seminar entitled "The Real Deal About Real Milk" on Saturday, August 2nd, from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, at Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon County. The event will focus on the constitutionality of the distribution of raw milk, as well as the health benefits of its consumption. The forum will feature a diverse group of raw milk experts and advocates, including keynote speaker Sally Fallon-Morell, president of the Weston A. Price Foundation. Other speakers will include Jonas Stoltzfus, president of Pennsylvania Independent Consumers & Farmers Association; State Representative Samuel E. Rohrer (R-Berks); and Peter Kennedy, vice president of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund. Folmer organized the forum in response to the Department of Agriculture's increasingly antagonistic treatment of raw milk farmers and the raw milk permitting process. "After hearing from several constituents, I've become increasingly concerned about the manner in which the Department of Agriculture deals with raw milk farmers and the raw milk permitting process," Folmer said. "It's time that we seriously evaluate raw milk, and separate fact from fiction." The event is open to the public. Seating is limited and pre-registration is encouraged.
