Keystone International Livestock Exposition Outstanding Youth Award
Congratulations to Catherine Foulke from the 48th Senatorial District on being awarded an Outstanding Youth Award at the Keystone International Livestock Exposition!

MANTEC “Excellence in Manufacturing Awards”
Several businesses in the 48th Senatorial District were finalists for the MANTEC “Excellence in Manufacturing Awards.” Congratulations to Die-Tech, Inc., winner of the Excellence in Sustainability Award, by embracing environmental goals and making their organizations profitable, and finalist Henry Molded Products. Also, congratulations to Penn-Air & Hydraulics Company, finalist for the Excellence in Workforce Award, and Phoenix Contact, finalist for the Excellence in Continuous Improvement Award.

Bills Signed into Law by Governor
Senate Bill 663 – Act 40 – allows courts to terminate parental rights of a convicted rapist but keeps offender’s obligation to pay child support even if parental rights are terminated;
Senate Bill 678 – Act 41 – clarifies the arrest powers/jurisdiction of state-owned university campus police officers.

Office of Open Records Right-to-Know Law and Sunshine Act Training
The Office of Open Records Annual Training session on the Right-to-Know Law and the Sunshine Act will be held on October 21 from 10 a.m. to noon at the State Museum of Pennsylvania (300 North Street, Harrisburg). The training is free, but seating is limited. Advanced registration by October 15 is strongly recommended. Click here to register.

PA State Police Academy Open House
The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) is hosting a “Come Get to Know Us Day” on October 24 from noon to 4 p.m. at the PSP Training Academy (175 East Hersheypark Drive, Hershey) for anyone interested in a career with the PSP. Attendees will be able to tour the training academy, watch Physical Readiness Testing demonstrations and meet PSP Troopers. PennDOT P3 Accepting Unsolicited Proposals for Transportation Projects
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Office of Public-Private Partnerships (P3) is accepting unsolicited proposals through October 31 from the private sector to offer innovative ways to deliver transportation projects across roads, bridges, rail, aviation and ports. Proposals for more efficient models to manage existing transportation-related services and programs are also welcome. Brownfields Grant Writing Workshop in Harrisburg
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is holding a free Brownfields Proposal Guidelines Workshop on October 26 at 1 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection South-Central Regional Office (909 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg. The workshop is to assist local government and nonprofit organizations better understand the proposal criteria and selection process for EPA’s Brownfields assessment, cleanup and grants. RSVP to
