Tues. 12/6:  SR 3001, Eisenhower Blvd., Swatara Township – Traffic Control for Bridge Inspection – Lane Closure
The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, emergencies or other unforeseen interruptions.  Road concerns can be called into 1-800-FIX-ROAD.  If calling after hours, please leave a name and phone number.

Grant “Matt” Ruhl of Lebanon Harvests 662-Pound Bear in Potter County
Congratulations to Grant “Matt” Ruhl, of Lebanon, on getting a 662-pound male black bear on November 21 in Potter County, the third largest in PA during the first three days of the season.  More can be found in this Lebanon Daily News article.  According to the PA Game Commission, the total bear population and size of bear harvests have been increasing in recent years, with 2,308 bears taken during the first three days of this year’s bear season, including seven in Lebanon County.  The top 10 bears all weighed at least 616 pounds.

PennDOT Secretary Richards Honored with Stevie Awards for Women in Business
PA Transportation Secretary Leslie S. Richards recently received the Gold Stevie Award for Women in Business in the categories of Female Innovator of the Year and Female Executive of the Year – Government or Non-Profit with more than 2,500 employees. Congratulations! 

Applications Open for Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence
The PA Department of Environmental Protection is seeking applications for the 2017 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence to recognize Pennsylvania’s environmental stewards.  The award is open to all individuals, whether a project leader or participant, and to all nonprofits, businesses, farms, government agencies and educational institutions, for projects completed between August 1, 2015 and July 31, 2016.  Applications must be emailed to by 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2017.

PA DEP Accepting Applications for PA State Clean Diesel Grant Program
The PA Department of Environmental Protection is also accepting applications now through December 28 for the Pennsylvania State Clean Diesel Grant Program.  The goal of the grant program is to improve PA’s air quality by decreasing emissions from diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.  The grant guidelines and application can be found here.
